"If I were to describe Erin's music like a white coat wearing professor of musicology, I would say that the she creates songs that are sometimes beautiful, shy and fragile, and at other times are self-assured, powerful declarations on what it is to be alive. Erin does a great job conveying the emotion of love through well thought lyrics, and sparse, almost ghostly instrumentation. For the most part, the recording is just a space-echoed voice, and a cleanly fingerpicked Danelectro guitar. But Erin adds many subtle touches like air organs, ukeleles, and the occasional sound of a distant, marching snare drum. Also, Rich Diem of Twelve Hour Turn plays slide guitar, and contributes a little singing to the album. People might know of Erin from her other bands, Abe Froman and Mt. Gigantic, or perhaps from Here It Is zine. She is a very talented person in art, music, and in life. I wish the best for Erin, and I hope that everyone loves this album as much as I do." --Lenny Rutland [Band Site][View Cart]

Rare copy of this out of print record. Rebuilding pop-punk from the ground up is by no means an easy task, but Richmond, VA's PINK RAZORS have boiled down the genre into its purest elements and improved upon it leaps and bounds. With no song crossing the two-minute mark, each track is packed with memorable melodies over fast, powerhouse rhythms. This all happens so fast you barely know what hit you, but still manage to get the songs firmly stuck inside your head.Sometimes snotty, sometimes dark, yet always up-tempo and immensely catchy, "Waiting to Wash Up" will have you singing along to desperate, cynical, and hopeful songs alike. Fans of the former East Bay and Chicago heyday are likely to rank this up there with current favorites (ala Dillinger Four and Toys That Kill), and appreciate this long overdue, fresh approach to power-chord punk rock.(Robotic Empire) [Band Site][View Cart]

It sure doesnt feel like it, but its been three years since TORCHEs eponymous debut, and now they return with a blistering new release fittingly titled, well, "In Return". This monstrous, seven-song, 20-minute EP pushes TORCHEs musical extremes even further as the "poppy" songs are far more catchy, and the "heavy" songs are infinitely more crushing. The band continues to explore every side of their multi-faceted personas, presenting their darkest, heaviest and most infectious work to date! "In Return" is also Robotic Empires most obsessively ridiculous packaging yet; a beautiful full-color John Baizley design as a gatefold 10" jacket with a printed innersleeve and a die-cut that holds the companion CD in place, all housed in a thick mylar bag with a two-color sticker. Yep, this deluxe colored vinyl comes with a musically-identical CD counterpart so you dont have to deal with any digital download hassles if you simply want this thing on your computer. PMFS has pounded the road (and the road has pounded back) for a decade, never relenting, never giving up an inch taken. We find here: a rusty lockbox, full to bursting with incriminating details, blood and hair samples, and photographic evidence culled from their first four years as a band. Are they Hoodlums? Are they Mountain Men? Do they have your back for life? Perhaps all of the above. PLANES lives in the seconds between a swing and a hit. Join them in the fight!Contained within are 24 songs, including the entire âself titledâ album, âKnife in the Marathonâ album, âSpearheading the Sin Movementâ EP, âFucking Fightâ EP, four Black Flag covers, plus assorted comp songs and extras.(No Idea) [Band Site][View Cart]

this is the secong full length by ghost mice. ghost mice is Chris (plan it x) on guitar, hannah jones on violin and pascaloo benvenuiti on many small intruments. this album is an attempt at something that hasn't been done very much in the DIY punk scene. it's a concept album. all of the songs are about the trip that hannah and i took to europe in the summer of 2,000. it was not a tour, it was a traveling trip. we stayed for 90 days. we didn't have enough money. we didn't know anyone in europe. needless to say the trip was really hard and we learned a lot about life. there is one song about each country and one song about each body of water we crossed by boat, for a total of 11 songs (36min). all of the songs fit together to tell the whole story of our trip. the lyrics don't always give a play by play (day by day) description of our trip but always relate to the countries we were in or how we felt in those countries. this is also pascaloo's first appearance on a ghost mice recording.(Plan-it-X) [Band Site][View Cart]

On their debut full length release for Jade Tree, CLOAK/DAGGER keep it fast and simple. Produced and recorded at Headbanging Kill Your Mama Music Studios by Chris Owens (Lords), We Are is a bombastic, rough around the edges approach to minimalist hardcore. Combining the jagged aggression of bands like Swiz and Black Flag with the spastic urgency of Drive Like Jehu, We Are CLOAK/DAGGER embraces a lyrically raw directness that transcends the false conceptions and misgivings of modern punk, offering up honest commentary on the balance between life both with and without excess. In the end, We Are CLOAK/DAGGER embraces the long lost art of disposability, steering away from the culture of celebratory fake aggression, into a new era of raw, incendiary punk music.(Jade Tree) [Band Site][View Cart]

It isn't often new music surfaces that is so deeply intense, just hearing it may induce instant nostalgia; the ancient sensations you get when the seasons change, a vivid dream involving the first person you ever loved. In the same way that select few can simultaneously achieve dark and uplifting songs, the Brooklyn-based quartet known as GHASTLY CITY SLEEP hone in on some immensely powerful elements to deliver a commanding, breathtaking first offering. On the GHASTLY CITY SLEEP debut, four tracks span thirty minutes... and when it's done, you actually feel different. To say it's "moving" is an understatement with what Robotic Empire safely proclaims to be one of the most groundbreaking releases we've ever been a part of.While two pieces nearly reach the six-minute mark and the other two eclipse nine, the whole offering flows with a smooth liquidity, creating one solidified, captivating body of work. The four young men involved in GHASTLY CITY SLEEP don't stick to one instrument long, as the entire collective can be found playing everything from guitars, keys, various percussion and just about everything in between. The multitude of layers involved here are accompanied by a warm yet haunting array of vocals, all helping to produce this simply epic debut.(Robotic Empire) [Band Site][View Cart]

RED SPAROWES return to Robotic Empire with another amazing record, this time being joined by GREGOR SAMSA for this split CD release. Richmond, VA's GREGOR SAMSA shine bright here with two tracks of serene and dark ambient/rock music. Haunting and beautifully sung male and female vocals intertwine with atmospheric guitars, keys and string arrangements. One of their two tracks is a preview for their 55:12 full-length album, and the other is exclusive to this release. Los Angeles, CA's RED SPAROWES deliver two phenomenal tracks of their moving and intense instrumental creations. One exclusive new track is joined by a phenomenal demo version of a song found on their "At The Soundless Dawn" debut... and with members of ISIS and NEUROSIS behind this ship, RED SPAROWES continue to steer into amazing directions. In fact, both bands harken back to the glory days of shoegazing's past without compromising their modern spin on powerful and innovative independent music. [Band Site][Band Site]View Cart

Pink Razors are not interested in pretension, showing off their chops, or being hailed as groundbreaking instrumentalists. Let's be honest, there hasn't been a time or a place for short, simple, catchy punk songs for quite a while. We've all turned our backs on addictive melodies, anything with less than 1,000 chords, jam-out experimentation, and cluttered arrangements. In turn, haven't we forgotten what punk rock was about? Well pop-punk is back and it's pissed off about what you did to it. You gave it away sheepishly, embarrassed almost, as if it was some phase to leave behind. You sold it to every idiot who thought he could make some money off it... and what did we get? 10,000 shitty bands who took the "punk" out of it. 10,000 whiny melodies in songs that are too long, emo-crossovers, stylish fakers, auto-tuned vocals, Boys of Summer covers, ironic metal covers, cliches, and forced tears. And who stepped up to the plate? Anarcho-crust bands trying! to show their soft side? Amplified campfire songs? We're embarrassed too, embarrassed that we have to warn people that Pink Razors might be a pop-punk band. Pop isn't your scene either, and who can blame you? Kill what you know, forget what MTV says, try something else. Be warned though, you might have fun.(Robotic Empire) [Band Site][View Cart]
